Blog Reflection 2

In these past weeks, I have learned A LOT! I have learned so much about libraries and what really goes on inside the system. Theres so much more to a library than an old librarian and a bunch of books. When I first started this class, I was not expecting to learn information like this. I thought we would have to do some boring stuff and write about libraries and stuff, but this information we are learning is really useful.

I learned how to cite information from a book correctly. Before this class I would always have trouble, but now I memorized it and whenever I need it, it just comes to mind..like now:

Last name, First initial. (Year). Title of Book. Location of publication : Publisher.

Hahaha like that?

I have learned that you can access the library from your own home, but I still believe that libraries should exist because it is not only a place where you store thousands of books, but its a place where you can relax and have peace and quiet. Like for example, my boyfriend lives with 8 people in a 2 bdrm apartment. Imagine what it is like....mmm..yeah...kids running around screaming and yelling!! How are you supposed to get work done in an atmosphere such as that, so we go to the library. But not only is a library good for calmness and quiet, some books are only used for references like the Library of Congress books. I would not want one of those HUGE BOOKS shipped to my house when I needed them. Haha..and I don't think you would neither.

The internet plays a HUGE role in my life. I work for a company who builds websites for dealers and manufactuers so we basically live on the internet. I am only a data entry person though.....lol....but I still have to use the internet to enter ALL of the information that they need. 40 hours/5 days a week is how much work time I spend on the internet, but I still spend a lot of time outside of work doing homework and checking my email all the time just in case I get something from one of my instructors. I pay my bills online and I also go shopping online sometimes. I thank the person who invented internet because he/she made my life so much easier. lol.

  1. Wow! I know what you mean. I have really learned a lot of good information that I can use in my future classes. I can not live without the internet. It’s a huge lifesaver. I can pay bills, do homework, search for school books, price compare, read eBooks, and shop numerous online stores. The library is a very good place to go and study. It is very calm and peaceful; I don’t get distracted as easily like when I am in the comfort of my own home.

  2. I too have learned alot about libraries in the past few weeks since starting this course. I agree with you on the library being important especially since it is a nice get away from all of the hassle of our home lives. I know how it feels to live with 8 pple in a house because I am living in a house full of 9 people 2 dogs and 2 birds. HA, can you just imagine all of the stress I get? It's good to have alone time and space once in a while. :)
